The Lusail International Circuit in Qatar is a venue that offers a wide range of areas to host different types of sport events. It has also several areas that can be used as VIP Hospitality lounges for private events.
Last year’s FORMULA 1 QATAR AIRWAYS QATAR GRAND PRIX 2023 at Lusail International Circuit, hosted Formula 1 racers and fans for the first time. All of them had the opportunity to enjoy the WAYFINDING we have designed. It can be spotted in nearly all the spaces of this complex: the track, the technical facilities, the auditorium, the rest areas, etc. We designed hundreds of signs, dozens of types of information carriers, took care of legibility and challenged ourselves with Arabic typography.
In 2022/2023, the surroundings of the track were completely rebuilt, literally everything changed, only the configuration remained the same. The modernisation took longer than the construction of this facility, which shows its scale. As part of the modernisation, a completely new box building was built along with Paddock Club visitor areas on the upper levels. The paddock area behind the garages was significantly enlarged and permanent hospitality buildings for the teams were built. The stands were enlarged five times, new car parks were prepared, three new subways were built for spectators and access roads were widened. The surface and kerbs along the entire length of the track were replaced and the safety zones were upgraded.
An important task in designing wayfinding for Lusail Circuit Sports Club was to preserve the associations with the very characteristic aesthetics of F1 racing and to combine it with the newly designed architecture. We wanted to give the system an elegant look with a sporty flair, clear and expressive. We chose unusual and durable materials as well as legible and modern fonts. All this, combined with graphic elements, creates a coherent whole that allows to customize the signs both in open outdoor spaces and in buildings.
