Wayfinding for the Resi4Rent Romanowicza rental residential complex in Cracow.
It is an example of an architecture inspired by the urban rhythm of Cracow’s Zabłocie district – an area with industrial roots, which in recent years has undergone a dynamic transformation into one of the most creative and desirable places to live in the city. The simple form of the buildings and the rhythmic divisions of the façade refer to the former factory buildings.
Tenants not only receive a ready-to-move-in flat, but also get access to common areas: co-working zones, a cinema room and recreational areas. This dynamism is therefore inherent in the way this space operates. Its users must feel comfortable, at home and able to easily find the features they are interested in, regardless of how long they are staying here. These were the key guidelines that inspired us when designing the signage system for this complex.
The signage system prepared for this space is characterised by a dynamic and pleasing design. Its basic elements are the distinctive Mohol font (hungarumlaut), visually bonded pictograms and colourful geometric forms. Together, they create a coherent and highly distinctive signage system. The dynamism is also visible in the wide palette of colours and materials. Within the wayfinding system, the chosen materials include plywood, painted and stickered elements – in all compositions, they create an interesting, multi-layered and three-dimensional creation.
