Krakowska 37 is a contemporary multifunctional building developed by ATAL in Wroclaw, located on Krakowska Street in the rapidly evolving Krzyki district. Conceived as a mixed-use development, the project combines investment apartments, office spaces and retail units within a single architectural framework.
The wayfinding and signage system for the building was designed around the principle of creating a deliberate contrast to the interior architecture. In response to the building’s restrained and geometric spaces, we introduced forms of a more organic character, giving the environment a distinct identity and enhancing its recognizability.
The starting point for the spatial identity was a graphic motif inspired by the texture of terrazzo. The characteristic pattern of stone aggregates was simplified and enlarged, transforming it into a bold visual element within the wayfinding system. These forms serve not only as decorative features but also as information carriers and orientation tools, while introducing a softer, more organic rhythm into the interior spaces.
Typography is another key component of the project. The selected typeface, Hardbop (W Type Foundry), with its strong personality and visual presence, enhances both the legibility and impact of the system. Combined with the organic forms, it creates a design language that distinguishes the signage from the neutral interior architecture, achieving a balance between functionality and individual expression.
