Wayfinding system for Pixel XL in Katowice

Pixel XL is a unique gaming centre which does not use pads or keyboards, but special interactive mats, thanks to which players ‘physically’ become part of the game.

Its subsidiary in Katowice is yet another expression of this concept, combining the atmosphere of the 1980s and 1990s with modern technologies. A way finding system matching the ‘vibe’ has been prepared for the whole concept – the Katowice location is the first where it has been fully implemented. All of its elements relate to the leading style.

The entire signage is based primarily on large, clearly illuminated lightboxes – a very clear nod to the retro design. They bring to mind elements of old gaming machines and emphasise the character of the hall’s interior. They are a playful ‘wink’ to its users, who should appreciate their unusual form.

We also placed great importance on the graphic layer of the signs. We chose a unique typeface, BC Liguria (Briefcase Type Foundry). Based on the glyphs of the chosen font, a small set of unique, pixelated pictograms was created. The whole makes an intriguing set!
