Wayfinding design & placemaking for Urban Home at Ostrobramska Street, Warsaw with comfortable flats for rent. This is a modern residential complex by Grupa 5 Architekci, consisting of two newly completed buildings. Between them, there is a green patio, an ideal place to relax and spend free time outdoors.
Our role was to complement the architecture works & at the same time create a customly designed wayfinding elements. We opted to create a visual language that will be unusal & will put the users in a good mood. The geometric forms & strong typography that appeared in the environmental graphics were softened by the use of the ‘dotted’ effect, which is reminiscent of spray splashes. Some pieces also have a ‘shadow’ that has been made from the same pattern. This gives the elements of our wayfinding an interesting expression and can be suprising at first glance! This is particularly visible in the design of floor signage, additional graphics, etc.
All graphics, signs and pictograms are closely interconnected. The color palette is limited (different for each building), so that the space becomes even more user-friendly. In the wayfinding system, we used two typefaces. For directional information and other texts we used GT Walsheim by Grilli Type and for numbers/digits we used Founders Grotesk by Klim Type Foundry. Combined together, they form a coherent and distinctive whole.
