Wayfinding system

Bahrain International Sport City

Bahrain International Sport City

The wayfinding system designed by us for the sports’ buildings complex in Bahrain. It referred to country’s culture and tradition (the characteristic Middle East geometrical patterns were our main inspiration). It was important for us to create a dynamic and interesting design that would reflect the nature and purpose of the place. Sport facilities require the use of characteristic graphic treatments which should emphasize the dynamics of the spaces itself. In order to meet the above-mentioned guidelines, we have decided to use a typeface based on impossible figures (typical for Bahrain ornaments are created in a similar manner). We have designed patterns, graphics and pictograms in the same vein. As a result, we have received graphic elements that not only make the space more attractive but also strongly refer to the traditional Arabic designs in a modern way. We have also decided to use strong, contrasting colors that refer to their national colors. Due to these efforts, we were able to create an attractive and characteristic visual language.
