Mediateka in Tychy is a library for the 21st century. The building has a 24-hour “book machine”, a rental station, a multimedia reading room, as well as a meeting room and children’s playground. Mediateka houses the Main Library of the Municipal Public Library in Tychy and a concert hall.
The remaining part of Mediateka is occupied by private investors. A characteristic feature of this building is that the glass surfaces have a total of almost 4,500 m2! During this project we had to face a small budget of the institution, so when working on the markings we have decided to use popular materials. We had to consider the safety of users, that is why our graphic designs marked almost all glass surfaces with irregular linear patterns. Line and geometry were the inspiration for the whole system.
