PURO, Polish hotel brand with Nordic roots, has opened its newest location in Warsaw’s Old Town. This is where iconic design meets local charm. Designed by the renowned GamFratesi studio, this hotel introduces a touch of Nordic soft minimalism to the heart of Poland’s capital. Using natural materials and focusing on craftsmanship, PURO draws on the best of Scandinavian aesthetics. It also blends it with great Polish hospitality.
Inside, the design is far from static – the ground floor pulses with life, seamlessly flowing fromone space to another. Each room serves a different function and is subtly distinct in character. It is creating an open layout that adapts to the needs of the space. The overall design fosters an inviting atmosphere, encouraging interaction and a sense of belonging for both guests and locals.
The hotel’s design is deeply inspired by Scandinavian principles, where the guiding force is to create timeless and functional spaces for living. The focus is on comfort and connection, reflecting the hotel’s mission to create an intimate, familiar feeling of home, not just for those seeking luxury, but for those craving a meaningful experience.
A natural complement to this idea was a signage system designed in the spirit of the same restraint and functional elegance. It was based on modest means of expression, a clear hierarchy, and typography as the main medium of communication.
A key element of the system is the Polin typeface designed by Mateusz Machalski, Capitalics Warsaw Type Foundry. Its geometric discipline is rooted in the tradition of Polish modernism. It is a typeface that is both expressive and timeless – just like the hotel itself. The choice of a typeface created in Poland is a conscious gesture emphasizing the local context of the investment. In an international brand with Nordic roots, it becomes a subtle but significant accent anchoring the project in Warsaw. Thus, the signage system not only guides guests but also builds the prestige and identity of the place through locally created design of the highest standard.
